Though NIL BY MOUTH can be performed in standard proscenium arch it works best with the audience seated in half round and the show performed on the flat rather than on a raised stage.
The performance needs an area of 6 metres wide by 5 metres deep and an absolute clearance height of 4 metres for the trapeze frame which is attached to the head of a wheeled hospital bed (This clearance should be from the floor to the lowest light not the lighting bars).
A lighting rig with a minimum of 20 lights (fresnels, floods, spots etc) is ideal but we can work with less and, if necessary, can provide our own lighting rig.
We need to hang a video projection screen measuring 3 metres high by 5 metres wide at the back of the performance area.
We carry our own PA, mixing desk and video projector and, ideally, need a get in/set up time of at least 4 hours before the performance starts. We can also use the in-house sound system but will need to know some details about it before our arrival.
The show lasts approximately 1 hour 20 minutes (with no interval) and though it is normally performed indoors can be performed in suitable outdoor venues with low ambient light.
NIL BY MOUTH is not suitable for audiences under the age of 16 years old.
The show uses strobe lighting in 2 short sections, a large number of lighted candles with smoke and pyrotechnics.
We can provide a range of marketing and publicity support for the show including posters, flyers, stills, music CDs and a DVD with stills and video extracts from the performance.
We can also run workshops in interactive dance, drama and music around the issues and dynamics that the show explores. All our members have CRB clearance and we carry Public Liability Insurance of up to £ 5 million.
